The Statutes of The Fraters Armigeri Hospitalis
General Principle
The aim of our Brotherhood is to defend our ancestrial rights and combine our strength as an Entity, find Worldwide recognision by the different Order Assembly´s, to give support as Esquires Hospitaller to the Orders and follow the motto: Defence of the faith and assistance to the poor.
Our Brotherhood should be considered as an sovereign organisation, lose from any state of country, independent from any head of an state. Except our acknowledgement to be connected through history to all the different Military orders of Saint John and with head of the Brotherhood the Holy See.
Our brotherhood is open for everyone who can subscribe to our motto; “Defence of the Faith and assistance to the Poor. Regardless the way how their believe is practised; Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox or following an Spiritual or Humanistic approach to life, as Faith bind us all together.
Although from origin a Catholic Brotherhood, due to changes of time and opinion, we recognize the needs of individual independency of the different Military Orders dedicated to Saint John and his members.
From Historic content our Brotherhood still recognizes the Holy See has head of our Brotherhood as Soul Protector of the Faith, regardless the way each member practise his/her own believe.
Board of counsellors
The Presiding Board of Counsellors will be chosen every year starting from 24 june and be installed on the 29 august. It will be formed out of 3 Esquires of Justice and 3 Esquires of Devotion under the Supervision of an Knight of the Military Order of Saint John.
If an Knight of Saint John is not available through circumstance, than one of the Esquires on the Board of Counsellors will be chosen as an Knight of Obligation to take the task as Supervisor.
The Supervisor regardless if it concerns an Knight of the Order of Saint John or an Knight of Obligation will not have an active vote in the Board of Counsillors.
Every action of the Board of Counsellors should be proclaimed during an four weeks time period. In this time period the individual members can bring their objections forwards. Only if such an action carry’s the vote of the majority (75%) of all members, it will become operational.
The presiding Board of Counsellors is forbidden to reject an aspirant member on basis of race, gender, believe, age, sexual orientation, health or cultural background.
The Knight on the Board of Counsellors is entitled to excercise the titlement of an individual in the rank of an Esquire of Justice and grand such based on historical proof of descent.
The Knight on the Board of Counsellors is entitled to excercise the titlement of an individual in the rank of an Esquire of Devotion and grand such based on motivation.
The Knight on the Board of Counsellors is entitled to act in name of the Brotherhood to outside Institutions as an Ambassador under the authorisation of the Board of Counsellors.
The Board of Counsellors is entitled to make an exception in the titlement of the individual who is not able to deliver direct historic proof but who´s proof would make such plausible, or who´s ancestors were not connected to this Brotherhood but still ranked inheritable Esquires. These individuals will be also granted the title of Esquire of Justice.
The Knight on the Board of Counsellors is entitled to grand an coat of arms to the titlement of the individual member.
Membership
Each aspirant member should at least have the legal age of 18 years old.
Each membership is for lifetime of the individual member and it becomes hereditable in the 3rd generation if this concerns the rank of an Esquire of Devotion. Unless an member him/herself chooses to cancel his/her own membership.
Each member should give support to our motto; “defending the faith and assistance to the poor”, under the condition that he/she should not seek their own profit by it. Each member has the right to decide for themselves in what way this support should be given.
Each member is forbidden to discriminate another person on basis of race, gender, believe, age, sexual orientation, health or cultural background.
Each member is forbidden to gain their own profit or follow their own goals if these conflicts with their membership and used in name of their Brotherhood, as the goal of this Brotherhood is entirely based to be recognized as Entity and through this create the basis to give support to our motto once again.
Each member is forbidden to have an active part in fund raising or an members recruitment out of themselves, accept for just the attribution of information regarding our Brotherhood.
No member is allowed to ask money from aspirant members, neither for the application procedure of new membership or otherwise.
Every member that act against the Statutes or brings the Brotherhood in another way in discredit, will lose his right to take a seat in the board of counsellors and his/her right to vote. He or She will however keep’s the right of membership.
Each member is forbidden to take Money for services in name of the Brotherhood for the charitive tasks.
Each member is equal to each other, regardless their hereditary or individual rank or when seated at the board of counsellors.
Membership will immediately be granted to Donats of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and Esquires of the Military Order of St. John in the hereditary rank of an esquire of Justice, unless the membership doesn’t conflict with their duty’s in the first named orders of Knighthood.
Every member has the right to provide the board of Counsellors with an new Charitive project during that year and it is up to the board to decide what charity(‘s) will receive that year the aid of our Brotherhood and on what way this will be organized as long money is not direct involved.
Service duty
Every member should perform an service duty to the Brotherhood every 7 years for the time period of 2 weeks, unless he/she is not able through sickness, health, handicap or Otherwise.
These service duty’s should only contain services in supporting our charitive project, like for example collecting clothes or food for the poor or otherwise
An member that in his service period is chosen in the board of Counsellors is freed of his service duty otherwise than to coordinate an charitive project.
Each member has the right to refuse his/her service duty has long he or she provide the board of counsellors with the circumstances why such an duty can’t be provide and on what other way or other time such an duty will be performed.
Each member has the right to perform more services than or in an more frequent time than membership obligates this.
Daily activities
The daily activities will be performed in one of the Armoury’s of the Brotherhood situated in each or every country that active members are located. In the performance of such daily activities there will not be a special dress coat or uniform active, only by occasions of very special events each member will be asked to wear the black robe with the Esquire Cross of the Order; the 6-pointed Cross.
One central archive for the whole Brotherhood will eventually become foundated and one family will be named hereditary Archivists and styled Chartularius as Protectors of the heart of our Foundation. This family will be losing their right to vote, will however assist the board of Counsellors with advise.
The Statutes are permanent and to change one of the Statutes will be seen as an act against the foundation of the Brotherhood and will resolve in the dissolution of the Brotherhood. Unless a Change in the Statute has the full support of an majority (75%) of his members.
